GRADUATE PROGRAM ASSISTANTSHIPS

The Department of Biology offers several Teaching Assistantships on a competitive basis. Potential teaching ability of the applicant is also considered.

If you are awarded an Assistantship, over $30,000 in course tuition is waived and you receive a nine-month stipend of approximately $16,000 for assisting in labs for one or two courses, generally either Introductory Biology I & II (BIOL 10501/10511) or Contemporary Issues in Biology (BIOL 10003).

In addition, M.S. students may apply for a competitive internal Adkins Fund grant to provide about $3,600 of support for one summer to do thesis research.   Click here for more information regarding the Adkins Fund.

The Department also provides up to $1,000 of support for graduate students to attend a scientific meeting and present their thesis research.
